I dont really know where to start on this but I know its not right. I am going to try and be technical, only because of a book. My upper ball stud is not secured, therefore that whole piece wiggles around up against the yoke. I was going to loosen that nut on top but the nut and the stud just spin around.(Yes, I know the pin is still in) Any advice on what I need to do?

I don't know if this will work for a steering knuckle, but for tie rod studs that spin, sometimes if you can put enough tension on it, it will break loose. I have done this by wedging a crowbar in there and I've been able to create enough tension for the nut to break loose. Of course that will usually trash the dust cover. Make sure you have soaked the nut with some penetrating oil for awhile first.

If you have a torch, or can get one, use it. If not, you can try jacking up on the bottom of the knuckle to apply pressure to that balljoint, so the stud will seat in the "C", like was mentioned above. But if it's old or rusty, it's iffy. Good luck.

Save yourself time, Just grind/cut/chisel, use whatever tools you have to remove the nut.

Thanks for the advice. I will probably try the cutting method, and see what can get to put things back together.

I have got it cut so far. Is the best way to replace it, Pulling the knuckle, using a puller(Chiltons) and then putting everything back together. Just curious if there is another way without pulling the knuckle?

replace what? the ball stud? or the nut? i'm assuming the ball stud. so, yes, to replace that, you need to pull the knuckle. since it's loose, shouldn't be too hard to do. just need to remove the lower jam nut from the lower ball joint, tap the whole thing from the upper joint, should pop right out.
