Does anyone have a picture of thier 75 transmission crossmember? My crossmember will not line up to the transmission, it's about 2" off(I tried every configueration possible). I have a 258 with a t-14 and a dana 20 t-case. The torque stud also aligns with nothing. I was told I have the stock one for a 75 b/c it was the only one that had upper brackets as well as lower, which mine has... I would greatly appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks Rob

I do have the mounting plate. It's where the bolt holes on the lower(rubber) part of the trans. mount attach to the crossmember do not align. The holes are about 2" off. On the torque stud bar mount(bar between the trans and trans mount) the hole isn't close to anything, it's over the recessed curve. The crossmember I have looks like a jeep one, it's rectangular with the supports shaped like an elongated x >----< I will try to post a pic of what I have tomorrow to see what everyone thinks. Thanks Rob

You may want to be sure that your crossmember isn't switched end for end. IIRC there are some indentations that go to the rear on the pass side. I believe that the indentations are for front driveshaft and u joint clearance. Please forgive me if you are already aware of this, but I thought it couldn't hurt to ask.

    wow
unless the picture is distorted, I think your crossmember is !
too many tweaks here and there
others will chime in but that unit is in bad shape in my opinion

this parts book pic is poor, but it does show the shape correctly
    compare this to yours
shouldn't be any twists, bends, humps, etc except out at the attatchment ends
    what do you see ?

Mine looks nothing like that pic..haha. I knew it couldn't be correct because the crossmember is in good condition. It's square to itself, it was definitly shaped like that from the factory, some other factory than jeeps...hahaha. The smaller part in the pic is one of the upper brackets. When I bought the jeep it chattered when you let the clutch out so I assumed that it needed a clutch. When I took the body off I realized the trans wasn't even bolted down. Then I realized that it couldn't be. Things have been going like this with this jeep since day 1, so I'm really not surprised. Guess I will have to make one unless anyone knows where I could find a good used one. Thanks Rob

I'll have to get under my jeep and take a pic for you, but the crossmember you took a picture of is identical to the in my jeep (75 CJ5 304-T15-Dana 20). I had to rebuild my trans and put in a new clutch, of course this took me several evenings to do and by the time I was done I couldn't get it to fit back into place either. But with a new trans mount and two new holes it fits fine. There was only one way that will make the bracket sit under the trans, but I couldn't get the holes to line up.

The pic of your crossmember is exactly like mine also. here are the pics

I can get a pic of my 75 w/304 in the morning. I have the skidplat off right now so it should be an easy pic to get.

That looks just like mine. I tried to offset the transmission mount and the holes still don't line up. I did however move the bar over to the center and made the torque stud fit. I still had to use the holes I drilled so we'll see how it works. If you can, take a pic of the trans mount on both sides to I can get a reference to the pass side as well. Thanks for all the help, Rob

Just having my morning coffee then I'll get those pics for you. I know, hurry hurry hurry. It's the pits waiting on someone especially when the jeep is involved. I love driving mine also. Back in a short.

sorry a little longer than expected, having problems getting good pics.

I believe that you just need to choose different holes in the frame. My '75 frame had optional holes.
