I am new to the forum and just got my 57 M38A1. It is pretty much origianal except for the paint and seats. My question is: Where do I get a roll bar for this it? By the way I am also new to the whole jeep thing too.

Welcome, I'd check wrecking yards, ebay, local classifieds. The ones from later CJ5/7 that bolt to the wheelhouses work. That's what I've used. hth

You can also post in the "wanted" section of this site for your rollbar, and, by the way, WELCOME!

A pre'75 rollbar for a CJ5 is a direct bolt in, I would recommend at least the factory type(for safety sake), with a later front cage when you feel you need it. Try ebaymotors.com and craigslist.com for your area. Somebody close to you will have one. We will keep an eye out for ya too.

Shipping charges on these things are a killer. Be sure to find out before you buy.

Where in Mississippi do you live? I live near Memphis and have an extra one from a 66 that we may be able to make a deal on if you are close.

    BTW, welcome to the board!

Collins Bros often has good stuff... but you can often save a bundle by checking with the guys here. It might take a little longer, but if your need isn't immediate, and you're willing to drive a bit...I'll wager that you could have obtained a bar just as good as you got, for less money, and met one of these fantastic ECJ5ers in the bargain!
    Next time... :)

No sweat. I'll be in the Memphis area until mid-September, then it's back to sunny Florida.....

Good luck with your project. They are a heck of a lot of fun.

Yep, the Navy is sending me back to Duval county...darn the bad luck.....

I guess that is one of the benefits of working as an Detailer since I get to write my own orders.

I'll have to give you a shout when we make it back down there.
