My 62 CJ5 has the Dana44 2 piece axle on the rear and I was looking to swap it over to rear 'E' brake and 11" brakes and low and behold it all ready had 11" brakes and rear 'E' brake but the cables had been wired up to the frame and the brake on the transfer case was used instead.
I need to replace shoes and cylinders but havent a clue what year the Dana44 is with 11" shoes and rear 'E' brake :?

    bubba,

If you plan on using the rear brakes for an emergency brake you need to install a foot pedal to operate them or a lever style hand brake. The existing hand brake just doesn't seem to be able to generate enough pull force to set them tight.

    Bubba,
I'd suspect an intermediate CJ. Pics might help us determine what you have.

    Welcome to the forum BTW!

Order parts for a mid seventies(75) vintage CJ5 they had 11" brakes with the ebrake at the drum, like what you described. A pic with the drum off would help us help you.
