Got a little out of hand in the front yard with the power train. Lit up the 33's and played drive shaft twister. Just got the drive shaft shortened when I added the 465 munice behind the 350. Going to a 3 1/2" drive shaft next..

Do yourself a favor, drain the diff of fluid, remove the diff cover, and see if your spider/side gears are intact.
That drive shaft didn’t break for no reason. Something had to’ve jammed up to cause it.

You can keep the smaller size and just get thicker wall tubing. But like said above the next weakest/worn out piece will just break next.

I have played the easier version of driveshaft twister. The easy one is done with 38's. I agree with everyone that something else will give if you keep smoking the tires and that you could also go with thicker wall tubing for the driveshaft and be just as well off.

Can't say much though because some of the boys I run around with have been known to do burnouts with 44's, but they run 1-ton drivetrain. If you want to see a really good burnout, check this out.

That video is INSANE! Very cool to watch though. I've turned leaf springs into S's before, but haven't had the pleasure of twisting a driveshaft.

Good and fun idea until the u joints fail and u have a 15 pound nunchuck flying around under your butt creating severe body damage and potentially finding its way into dark places on your person.

holy pop-ups, batman. still a cool vid.

just build some d.s. hoops. no worries then.

unhijacking now. thicker wall and bigger joints will solve the problems with the d.s. but will cause others as stated. either spider gears, carrier, or course splined shafts (axle, t-case output, pinion).

I twisted my driveshafts up a few times with the 355 and the t18 and alot of abuse. I got some heavy duty custom built shafts installed and started breaking axles, Upgraded to dana60 rear and dana 44 front. Motor mounts were next. Made some custom mounts. Finally decided to stop trying to do wheelies and the problem went away. Hard launches with a chevy v8 are the quick way to find the weak links.

Sorry for the long link, had to add it to my space.. Power is no problem and LOTS of room in the gas pedal. youngest son loves the wheelies but momma does not find it very funny. She is not sure who is youngest kid in the family at this point. No beer involved, just three boys and the old man at home=lots of testerone running around driving momma crazy.. BWAHAHAHAHAAAA... :driving:

    Nice.
Hooker headers? I’ve got a set like’em ‘cept I didn’t bother with the chrome. Figured the front tires would rock blast the finish off anyway.

I could see where that might put a little strain on a driveshaft.:)

    Nice!
