    Hello folks
I'm still learning here so sorry if this a dumb question.

I have a 1955 CJ 5 it has the OEM air filter.
I changed my engine oil last night thought I would put new oil in the air filter.
On the outside of the air filter it say's oil level.
There is no oil in the filter and it looks like it has been awhile that it has had oil in there.

So should there be oil in there and if so what should the oil be?
And how do I put the oil in do I just pour it in that little try from the bottom of the air filter or do I pour it in from the top?

The container for the oil is on the botton of the air filter.
Thanks so much for the help
    Jason

Take the bowl off the bottom and put your used motor oil in. The FSM has more specs on this, I highly recommend owning one.

In case you were wondering, FSM stands for Factory Service Manual. I spent a good deal of time on this forum before this became clear. Best of luck.

Putting used oil in can't really hurt anything, I prefer clean oil so I can tell what's going on as far as capturing contaminants.

I've never used or heard of anything but used oil being suggested.
