    Jeep-Freaks,
I don't mean to beat a dead horse with this, but I'd like to get a consensus concerning tune-up parts. I just got my 1961 CJ-5 F4-134 a couple weeks ago. I'm sort of new to the do-it-yourself mechanic thing...when I got the jeep it didn't run: so I rebuit the carb (never done that before), replaced the fuel pump, and bada-bing she runs great now - and I've been having a blast with it. Tune-up time...after doing the research, it seems like different books say different things. Anyone have a strong take on standard tune-up items concerning manufacturer/part#. Specifically plugs, caps, rotors, wires, etc.
Also, if you have any input for me concerning fluids for the differentials, t/c, transmission, I'd appreciate it.
Thanks for the help - Zach

    Champion J8C Plugs

    Rotor/cap whatever NAPA sells.

Wires, again, your choice, NAPA or any other FLAPS can get them.

    80-90wt gear oil.

    HTH!

When you visit NAPA or your local flaps, be sure to take your old points with you. I don't recall whether or not it depends on your distributor, but there are two different sets of points and it always seemed like the one the stocked wasn't the one I needed.

Good point. Two distributor types in F-heads.

Either take the dist. number or the old parts with ya!

Try to get the cap/ rotor with the brass contacts rather than the aluminum. Go ahead and get a spark plug wire set also. As far as points are concerned-you'll have some learning to do, just remember not to drop the attaching screws and loose them. Point gap .020" if I remember correctly. Welcome to the mix!!

Go to quadratec online. They can get you set up with an HEI type distributor (petronics kit) this is a sweet kit and easy to install. This combined with high performance coil and Bosch Platnium 4 spark plugs and good wires will kick @$$. Good Luck
