$10 10 Minute Hi-Lift jack mount

    Needed a hi lift mount so I came up with this today.

    Parts Needed: 1/2 all thread, 2 - 1/2 nuts, 2 coupling nuts, 4 regular
    washers, 4 fender washers, 2 wing nuts, 4 body mount
    bushings (I only had 3 on hand)

    Cut 2 pieces of all thread about 6.5" long. Nut and washer on the underside and coupling nut and washer on the top side secure it to the bumper mount hole. Add a fender washer and body mount bushing for the jack to rest on. It should look like this:

    Add the jack and then put another body mount bushing and fender washer on top. Secure it all with the wingnuts and thats it!

    For locking the jack the best method would probably be a cable lock. It is in the way of my towhooks but can be removed in less that a minute if they need to be used.

    Looks good Joe.
    Make sure you keep it sprayed with WD40 or other oil spray though. :oops:

    Cool! I've got some 1/2" stainless all thread rod just itching to be used for something. One question, about what is the diameter of the body mounts you used? I have a bunch of hockey pucks that we use for all kinds of stuff but I can't remember if they might be to big to look right with my Hi-Lift.

    Joe, is the baseplate going to rattle that way?

    Once nice thing about the setup I had:

    The jack was flipped so the baseplate was oriented up and down. It was suspended by a vertical piece of metal strap that had a bolt sticking out of it:

    There's a hole in the baseplate, so the jack just slid on the bolt and hung there.

    The other end I just had two sections of 1/2 strap that stuck up from the bumper, the shaft of the hi-lift slid between them then a bolt went through it.

    That single bolt was all that had to come off, and the baseplate didn't rattle that way.

    Yours looks good too!

    I suppose that the baseplate will rattle this way. I may remove it and the handle and just keep em inside the jeep.

    Mcscott, hockey pucks should work just as well.

    Looks Great, but you may want to use some lock washers or locknut or locktite so it won't vibrate looose.

    Great idea! If the base rattles, remove it and keep it in your storage area under the pass seat. But then what doesn't rattle on a jeep!

    I did the same thing on my TJ with a couple of eye bolts and wing nuts using the existing holes in the bumper for the fog lights (which mine doesn't have). It has never vibrated loose after several thousand miles, I wouldn't worry too much about it doing so.
