Alright, I ran my cj for a few minutes today for a few minutes and I noticed fuel was running out of the bottom of my carb... inbetween the mounting plate part and the main body of the carb  Fuel covered about half the intake and started making little ponds in the bolt groves. I proceded to crank down on all the screw and the bolt to see if that would make it stop. Once the fuel pond evaperated, I cranked the engine and watched the carb. No leak... My problem was solved. Then my engine started to putter and run worse and worse, so I turned it off and when I looked back to the carb. Lo and behold, fuel was flowing out the midsection

To get to my point. Does anyone know what might be causing this and why.
My solution would be to replace the gaskets. Does anyone know where I can get a rebuild kit for the G2. I've looked online and all I've gotten is frustrated...

Most likely the float /neetle valve in the carb bowl stuck open.

Mine was doing the same every once in a blue moon AFTER I rebuilt it, so I bought a reman 2G from advance auto online. The $20 kit is a good place to start.

FWIW, these carbs are about as simple as they come. Buy a kit and float, take your time, and rebuild it yourself... JMO..

the screws that secure the base to the body are underneath the base and can only be tightened with the carb off
I suppose if one were to do that, might as well change the gaskets while its off....

Nope, I've seen that happen. It starts to spit fuel out of the tube on the top. This is a little different. I think the fuel is finding its way through the middle gasket from the pump/jet area. Oh well, I bought a gasket kit from Vintage Speed. This carb is a reman I bought only half a year ago... :(

napa has a rebuild kit for about $14. took me about two evenings to clean, reassemble and readjust. take some pics as you tear it down if you need to. having both the fsm and the diags from the kit helped.

that cleared it up for me. ran better too. make sure you select the correct retainer clip for the float needle valve. i mistakenly put in the long one. ran fine but one day had fuel pouring into the venturi's even with the throttle closed. float was stuck as you mentioned on your last post.

I found my problem, and it has nothing to do with the gaskets. Unfortonatly the gaskets are trash now anyways, so it doesn't matter
I found these after I took the bottom off the carb.

Are these normal:? They're just holes that go from the barrels to the outside... apperently what my problem was I had the aduster screw turned down far enough that it created a seal, So that gas build up above the butterfly and started pooring out my two little unwelcome holes all over the top of my engine  Do ya'll carbs have these holes? and why are they there?

    :?
    seems strange to me
any open hole in that area will create a vaccum leak
likewise, you shouldn't have raw fuel coming out thru the holes :?

you appear to me to have a flooding problem, which indicates float/needle/seat
liquid fuel should not be buidling up on top of the butterflies, which them flows out these holes :?

I don't see them on my carb ......doesn't mean they aren't there and plugged.....

Hmmm. pulled out my old stock carb that I replaced with this one. No holes in that one, also couldn't find anything that mentioned it in the Rochester manual.

at any rate, I'm a still confused. The carb works great with the holes with the exception of the gas leak problem when the butterflys are closed all the way, I had idled it down a few weeks ago because I thought it was idling too high. I guess thats what started this.
I'm going to email the guy who remaned this carb and see if he can tell me why there there.

I think I may have figured it out. I bought the carb from a racing shop and while I was thinking about that it hit. Nitrus Oxide. Those holes would be the perfect place to introduce it into your system. So, who thinks I should hook up the dauntless to NOS? R) R)

Edit: don't worry guys, I look at NOS and street racing in general as just plain idiotic...way too many kids and old cars die that way.
