I just put my Dualmatic Hubs back together and when I tighten them down they will not lock and unlock. I need gaskets to space out the hubs so they will work. Anybody know of a source for gaskets??

I know Herm sells warn gaskets, I'd imagine they'd work fine with dualmatics as well. by a few extra in case you need to shim some.

Do the gaskets go between the hub parts or between the locking hub and wheel hub?Test your theory by using cereal box cardboard or stiff paperfor a temp gasket. Are the lever shafts lubricated? I would think Dualmatics gaskets would be made from unobtainium and therefore hard to find. Good luck

I called Herm and he thought his gaskets would work. He is mailing me 10 so I'll have 5 on each side to play with. I think they must be the problem because I just cleaned and regreased everything when I did the front brakes and hubs. If I loosen the bolts they turn, if I tighten them down they bottom out and bind solid. I will post the results with gaskets next week for everyones knowledge bank.

FYI on gaskets....you can make your own. Simply purchase the desired thickness gasket. Place over the part. Using a small ball peen hammer, Tap out the gasket by "cutting it" with the hammer. Get a good fourty five degree angle with the hammer and the edge of the part. You can make a perfect gasket, right down to the holes doing this.

A followup - got the gasket for Warn Hubs from Herm. I needed to cut out 3/4 circles for the tumblers but they worked great. I put 3 on each side and they lock and unlock really easy. This was the fix for sure!!

This whole thing doesn't sound right. You shouldn't have to use paper(!) gaskets in a driven interface to get the right shimming for it to work. 1) The gaskets will 'squirt out' from the interface from the reciprocating load. 2) The loading will work the bolts loose and/or fatigue and break them. In my opinion, that interface should be metal-to-metal, using the o-ring on the hub to make the seal. While you're there, use studs instead of bolts and it will be maintenance free.

Dual matics don't have an O ring and do use a gasket. The clearances are designed for the gasket to provide the final dimension. I have had the hubs for quite a long time and they have been trouble free. I've never had Warn hubs on this Jeep so can't speak to them.
