engine missing

question guys

a buddy of mine has a cj5 that they put a 350 chevy in.has been in the jeep for 7 years ran great till over the winter.started missing bad.smoked a couple of coils,so replaced altenater,it was putting out 17 v.now it will not run on all cylinders.going to his place tonight to take a peak at it, and run over some things.if anyone has any ideas for me to look over would be great.me and chevy motors have never gotten along.

Pull the plugs and make sure they are in good shape. They may have become fouled when you were blowing the coils. May also need plug wires.

What ignition is he running? If its a 4 pin HEI it may be a bad ignition module. I just replaced one that was fried due to a short. The engine would start but when you reved it up spark would go away and it would die. So that is something to consider as well.

hudson, you made the call, we pulled the plugs lastnight,put new plugs in running on all 8 when i left.hard to beleave that 4 to 5 plugs would all go at once.
