    Hello Folks
I am going to be doing a oil change this weekend.
Why pay someone when I can do it myself.
I was wondering I have the oil time oil filter.
Does anyone know what these filters are called and if I can get them.
    Also what kind of oil should I use 5w 30 or 10w 30? (1955 CJ 5)
    Thanks for the help
    Jason

    4 cyl?

Your local parts house should be able to sell you the correct oil filter given the correct engine info. I use Fram filters but that is just me. I am sure that several brand names are available.

I run SAE 30 oil but someone in the North might chime in with better advice.

Penzoil 30hd or 20-fiddy depending on my mood. Fram's filter is c41 I believe. My truck has the same filter canister. Through chevy truck parts catalogues you can buy decals to restore. The top decal list filter numbers. I usually check it to be ready for he "blank stare" from the guy behind the counter. If I have the time I'll try to suck or spoon the old oil out of the canister and replace it with fresh.

That's what I figured, oil time does sound like a good name for a filter type though. ;)

Fram C3p is a good number for a cartridge filter.

Apparently, if in fact I am part of everyone, we don't all know that to be the case. Perhaps in Jeep terms an oil bath filter is "old time"- If that is what is meant. Original, IMO, implies the one that came on the Jeep from the factory. Either way I think this fella needs a new one. R)

I use 20-50 Castrol in the 65 all year round, but I only use the jeep in the winter to plow with [ no heater ] so it doesnt get used to much as a daily driver.
