    D'oh! Busted. R) Sorry, Bill.

the T98 is probably more desirable to somebody with bigger plans than I have.... I just want to restore my first jeep and drive around in it as a near stocker so I'm sure the T90 will be fine.

I made plans to go see the one that Timgr posted in Medford tomorrow or friday, the guy seems fairly eager to sell but we didn't talk price.

even though the one pictured has the remains of a top on it, you have to be careful as the trans/t/case could be full of water from sitting out.
Not picking on Bill's Jeep, just stating that it can/does happen.
so be cautious when buying one that's been put out to pasture IMO
    YMMV

That jeep is worth around 1200 assuming that the transmission is any good.

    T-98 transmissions generally go for around 800 - 900.
Cost to shorten / lengthen drive shafts ~300
Clutch control hardware - non existent unless you get it with a jeep.

By buying the jeep you get all that stuff plus any other parts that might be useful.

I wouldn't even try to fix up the jeep, just strip it for the good parts and transplant the transmission / transfer into a better candidate for restoration.

Now, all that assumes that you want the t-98 transmission. If you don't care about the t-98 then there are a lot better places to spend your money than on this one.

I've got a 1954 m38a1 with a solid body, it's been off the road since 1997, but at the time it had a NY inspection, new brakes and master cylinder. It needs seat canvas but I have a brand new Beachwood canvas winter enclosure that is optional...I'm in NY between Buffalo and Rochester. If any one is interested give me your e-mail and I'll send you pictures and more info on it...I agree with the earlier posts...that maroon jeep looks pretty bad...all the surface rust around the gauges scares me...not to mention what the underside might look like...with what is shown, the only things usefull are the engine/trans...I bet the frame is pretty scary.

Rusty, if you not going forward on the jeep you found and discussed, is it at a bone yard and can you give me details? I'd like to check it out for seats/frames, horn, knobs, etc. I'm in Bolton MA. and will keep an eye out for you of what I find in area. Thanks, PS... you will find your usable good jeep soon enough !
