Just a few questions Keith to help troubleshoot (BTDT):
Would the clutch fork travel via hand without the cable attached?
Was the pressure plate depth compared between the replacement & oldie?
Was the same type/size throwout bearing &/or neck used?

Not much you can check. Just make sure the fork is setting properly on the pivot, nothings blocking the pedal or fork motion, and the cable is installed properly and not binding. Did you check the throwout bearing ID on the trans shaft? Otherwise you'll have to pull the trans and see what went wrong.:v6:

Did you reinstall the exact same kind of clutch? If not different clutches use on of six different length throw- out bearing and sleeve lengths. This is a common problem if you changed the clutch configuration.

    See http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/clutches_etc.htm
for details of what I am writing about.

I have put the wrong throw-out set-up with a new clutch many a time----- and had to disassemble the engine-- from tranny/bell over and over--
its a pain. But can be fixed easy. (technically speaking)

no travel before the cable was hooked up.
all parts were same size that came out.
this weekend i'll remove boot and try to look and see if things are bound up other option is pulling kit and kabootal and starting again it does get easier after each pull .thanks for the comments guys

This same thing happened to me a few years back. After weeks of replacing clutch forks, cables, and I even went so far as to convert to the AA chain set up, I still had the same problem. In the end I removed the brand new pressure plate and put my old one back in... Problem solved.

Not sure if you have the same issue, but just an FYI...

    Good Luck.

thanks for the info.today i went out and was fooling around with it and thought that maybe the bearing was against the presure plate and pushed pretty hard on the clutch, well bad news the cable connects to a roller tube that connects to a rod. the tube came off the piviots and is now just dangling there. any body know where a good place to get a chain set at.. thanks
