I found this from a previous thread and was going to get it but I also saw that some people recommended a different one but couldn't say where they got it from. Does anyone have a different option for this. I hate having to stop working because I need to order a special tool. Anyone got one they wouldn't mind sending to me. I'll pay shipping. Guess this will give me some time to order up the upgraded 11" brakes I need.

You will need one for the rear axle hub, but for the drum it should come off when the three small indexing screws are removed. I have a hub puller but I am doing the same mod to my CJ now too. Check the post in the For Sale column. I bought mine off a tool truck for about $75.

Mine is a Matco Tools #P66, but check with Autozone in your area they rent stuff like this for free. OTC makes another but more $. Let me know if you can't find one for rent and I'll see what we can work out.

Just checked out the price at Matco- $159, wow $45 is a way better price. You'd spend half that on shipping.

Both style will work, but I'd opt for one that has the "wing" on the end of the the threaded rod. Sometimes you need a solid whack from a BFH to break the hub loose off the axle shaft. Hard to do when you have to hold the wrench on with your other hand. BTDT.

I have the same one, paid $53 new and for a few $$ more got the gear attachments. Heavy duty and works great.

I bought the one from JCW. It worked fine for me.
