    My experience:

1988, Chevy pickup shaft shortened for Blazer, Cape Giredueau MO $30

1997 Local shop in Fort Leonard Wood MO lengthened/shortened driveshafts in CJ7 for t18 swap, about $60

1998 or so, new shafts front and rear for Blazer from Six States Dist (I think!?) $550, included 1350 ujoints on rear and new output yoke for NP205, new front with double carden at xcase end and a shock boot looking thingy on the front slip--very nice and shipped in round cartons with steel end protectors. Worth every penny. Main reason was swapped out NP203 for NP205, rear needed lengthened like 6"-8", plus they were both plain worn out.

1999 Same local shop in Fort Wood shorten/lengthen shafts in CJ5 for v6/t18 install ~$60

2004 New front shaft for the CJ5, built with new parts at local shop in Hawaii. Small tube to provide clearance for starter, uses funky little tiny ujoint at front axle. Like $350, they did good work but overpriced in my opnion. Long complicated story on why I went this route.

My advice--find a good local machine shop, make friends, and find a good (cheap) core (good yokes and slip splines) and have the locals retube for the right length. The local shop at Fort Wood couldn't balance them, but said he was careful to make sure they were welded straight. I assume he built them in a jig or lathe to keep them straight?! I have had no problems and the CJ7 has been across the good ole USA twice.

The guy at EMS was higher priced than Tom Woods, then tax and shipping would have been additional. No tax, no shipping on Tom Woods stuff coming to PA.

Well I just spoke with Tom Woods. He strikes me as a fine gentleman, focused on maintaining high quality standards.
We talked a bit about Jeeps... he likes the CJ5s but at 6'6" he said he's too big to fit comfortably, so he runs a CJ7.
I told him I've heard all good things about his shop and his work, told him about our website, gave him the addy... said he'll check us out :)

I placed my order for a premium shaft, should ship out tomorrow, be in my hands next week. :D

I'll let you know what I think when I get it installed.
