I am sure it has been done but it is a bit outside the realm of what most people here are into, you would probably find more on something like that at pirate 4x4 or one of the other "hardcore" kinda sites..

Thers is, or was a company that actually made a kit for that, they sold one for early 5's and Flatties.

IIC they never really got out of prototype stage.

IMHO another good approach would be to buy a wrecked TJ/LJ and plop an ECJ body on it.

Have you considered the Holbrook long leaves? Might give you all the same benefits as less cost and hassle.

If ya head over to pirate4x4 there is a fellow that has a '65 (i think it is anyway) that goes by the name mrwillys. If you look up all of his posts he has quite a few pics of his coil over job. He even kept the dana 27. Careful over there though, those guys can be rather obnoxious.

    Couple of things.

The company that made the kit with the Coil Over Shocks for a flattie/early 5 was Black Diamond but the kit never made it beyond the prototype stage. Around the same time JP had the article about the blue CJ-3a in it Warn announced they were cutting the black diamond line. It was sold to Superlift and they now make the XCL kit again but since Warn never really tooled that kit up for production they don't make the earlier version. Those kits were a radius arm type suspension with Fox coil overs.

Ideally if you were going to do a coil over set up on an early Jeep you would just run a four link set up. A coil over simply replaces the shock and the coil spring thus making for a four link with less components. Pirate probably would be a good place to find out about that although in the CJ forum on JU several members have done coil spring conversions lately.
