Funny how the odometer shows 4,200 miles and the listing states 42,000.

 

Rear gas tank and red four way knob so most likely has offset flanged axle.

Wrong speedometer, should be the single digit type. So the Odometer means nothing.

 

That's what makes this deciphering act so fun...what is real and what isn't?!
That roll bar does not look like a '71 RII, but maybe it was correct for a '70<?>

I agree. It has at least several of the Renegade indicators. Looks like a steal for 2500. My wife would love a purple JEEP. Me, not so much even if it's a true Rennie. Go get it Doug. Not gonna find another one.

 

It also has a rectangular red marker light on the passenger rear quarter panel, so it probably had a rear mounted spare tire from the factory?

 

When I was in Boy Scouts, our scoutmaster had a purple Renegade...the only purple one I've ever seen in person. This would have been 40+ years ago, damn I'm old!
I might actually be tempted by this one if I wasn't currently recovering from surgery.

 

I agree that it probably started as a renegade. Has had several parts changed out or missing.

 

If that were semi-local, I’d be towing it home already. And it would go back to Plum.
A 999 paint code would be one more way to verify a Renegade.
