Sounds like it's time for a carb rebuild. Is it an f-head? Solex? There is a gasket between the carb and the intake - but there shouldn't be so much liquid gas pouring through there that it leaks out. A leak here would cause a vacuum problem and a poor running engine. So the real leak is probably further upstream, or you have a poorly adjusted float that is causing gas to pour in - again - that would cause really be running.

Sounds like carb rebuild time. Several things could cause that, float stuck, bad needle valve or adjustment, fuel pressure overcoming needle valve, trash keeping needle valve from seating, etc. What kind of engine/carb you talking?

Check that the screws holding the upper body of the carb to the lower body are tight. Mine get loose sometimes. If you tighten them take it easy so you don't strip them, just make sure they are firm.

Solex is real simple to check out by taking the top off the carb. They also can't handle much fuel pressure, what kind of fuel pump do you have?
