    Happy Sunday, everybody.

From what I have read on this forum and what I have seen in the parts manual, my windshield hinges should be black (matching my windshield, but when I blasted these, they are black over chrome. At this point, it doesn’t really matter, because I went through part of the chrome finish, so they are going to be what I decide to do, so I guess I am looking for an opinion poll.
My mirrors are chrome. Does it make more sense for the hinges to match the windshield, match the mirrors, or match the body.

I’m pretty sure match the body would be the answer if I painted the windshield body color.

They used chrome hinges on the Tux I believe. Good luck with your project.

My opinion, match the windshield, which should be black, not body color. My '67 has some tux parts like that too, put on by the original owner.

Your chrome hinge is what was used on the Tuxedo Park Jeeps. The mating section on the windshield frame also was chrome on the Tux (as well as the bolts and screws).
Originally, regular Jeeps had the hinges painted black, and the windshield frame was also black.
Check your serial number if your Jeep is from ‘64 to ‘67. It might have originally been a Tux The serial prefix is 8322.
Too bad about the blasting as your chrome looked like it was pretty nice.

I’m 8305. Yeah, I wouldn’t have blasted it if I knew what lied beneath. My tailgate hinges are also chrome, so if I decide to go that path, I’ll take in a batch of stuff.

Can you post a pic of the tailgate hinges. By your serial number prefix, it was not a Tuxedo Park model. A previous owner swapped some chrome Tux parts to your Jeep. The neat thing is the chrome tailgate hinges, as I’ve only seen a few that had chrome. (My Tux is one)

Mine were black and got painted black when I installed a better windshield also painted black. Chrome was the thing back in those days and you could even get chrome or stainless grill overlays. I hate that look.

I have yet to see, in person, a Tux with chrome tailgate hinges. Was it really a thing or did people do it aftermarket? Mine are painted in the body color.
    -----sorry for the slight hijack

Am I misinterpreting what I have? I thought this was chrome that has been painted over.

I seem to remember places offering chrome windshield hinges for sale back in the day. Not sure if it was only the '76+. Maybe not all chromed windshield hinges are Tux?

I distinctly remember J C Whitney selling chrome hinges back in the 70s. Just because it's chrome doesn't necessarily mean it came off a tuxedo park.

Yep. That's chrome alright. The fasteners make me suspect that they are aftermarket hinges though. I would think that hex head bolts would be original for the era vs. the Allen head bolts shown. I don't see the casting number in the hinge as we typically would, again making me lean toward aftermarket.
