PO installed XJ swinging pedals in my 61' CJ5/F-134, fabricated custom mount where the stock brake master once resided, to push down/actuate a custom arm bracket with rod/heim joints on the clutch pedal shaft, his weld broke, grenanding/over pressurizing the slave. In my opinion, he attempted to actuate too much of the OEM linkage with suspect quality clutch components.

In the interim, I reverted back to OEM setup, not liking how close the release is even after adjustments. Not to mention I still have the XJ brake setup so a tad awkward pedal layout as is.

I've ordered a new Wilwood pull style clutch slave 260-1333 and matching master setup 260-15098. My current plan with pull type slave, having it actuate just the the bellcrank, pulling lower mount where rod normally would connect, back towards the rear, pulling the bellcrank arm, thus the fork clutch cable.

Looking for some photos of similar setups.

If you have swinging pedals, is your clutch master cylinder on your firewall?

Yes, XJ complete setup, but need to orient the new clutch slave to actuate the cable/fork more cleanly, so the firewall masters can remain as is.

    OK.
I have no problem taking pix of my arrangement; however I have a bell mounted slave similar to an early 1980's arrangement.
I duplicated a 1982 hydraulic clutch design for my 1971 retrofit. I have an aftermarket bell housing and clutch also.

Sure any and all pictures/responses are welcomed. Thanks for offering. One of our members on OleWillysForum shared this, he made the plate and tapped T90 bosses carefully to mount and orient into correct place, pretty smart.

My build thread vanished long ago - sigh.
I just took these, so let me know if anything need clarification.
The first two are from top side. The second two are from below.

In short, I duplicated a 1982 CJ5 layout for power brakes and hydraulic clutch on the firewall. You can see the lighter orange plate that covers the original heater interface.
I used 1982 Jeep OEM master and slave cylinder components. I have an AA bell with Centerforce I internal components. I used a Novak hydraulic clutch connection flex tube. They work GREAT!

Please save these pix, as the ECJ5 server is a bit stingy with photo-sharing space.
    Good luck with your efforts!

I hope you can get your hydraulic arrangement working again.
I've seen too many folks here struggle with different mechanical arrangements.
I'll say this again; the 80's Jeep CJ hydraulic design works GREAT.
I've had a couple seasoned people drive my CJ, and they are beside themselves when it comes to my clutch operation. (y)
Of course, a late model Ford T-18 compliments it well.

GM throwout arm? I also used that with the outer position removed so it would clear the frame rail. Those appear to be cast steel from the cuttings I got when drilling and tapping for a return spring eye bolt.

As with most things, the best system is going to be the one with the fewest parts and most hydraulic clutch systems entirely do away with the bellcrank linkage. Using any of that linkage is absolutely counter productive. I just used Aeroquip AN 3 PTFE lined hose for my hookup.

I am thinking of something like this, rough mock up but one gets the general idea:
Going for a straight actuated pull of the clutch cable to fork, eliminating the OEM linkage.
I have plenty of angle iron and 20ga to play around with to get the orientation and geometry set.

I'll see if I can pull a picture of the pull setup I built and bolted to the back of the Tcase for pull slave. My push is the Novak setup.

My pictures suck but what I did was make a simple bracket for the slave cylinder that attaches to the inside of the frame. The other end of the slave is connected to a chain that runs to the factory bell crank and the bell crank pulls the factory clutch cable. Very simple to install and works great. 1C39AA8B-074B-450B-81D1-60FCC1B2BC6A.jpeg
