Has anybody put a hydraulic operated clutch on a T90 mated to a F134? Kind of in the planning stages of trying it if anyone has picture or a list of parts you used please post them. I’m thinking I need a pull type slave cylinder and some sort of one off mounting bracket.

I hate to diverge from the core question, but I put a hydraulic clutch on my '71 Dauntless V6 when I upgraded to a T-18 from the T-14.
    It's been an incredible thing.

I did. I used Wilwood parts and used a chain attached to the stock turnbuckle. Was pretty simple and works great. I will try to get you a picture tomorow.

I have it on my 61' PO did, XJ swing pedals, not a fan. Reverting to AA chain setup over the winter. It's a 61', it should feel and shift like a 61' IMO.

If it is put together correctly, they don't leak. Frankly, a lot less maintenance than the stock bell crank system and they don't get bound up when you get twisted up. Just stay away from the internal integral throwout bearing types. In my experience, all those accomplish is making a hour replacement job into a 2 day affair.

I swapped mine to a Hydraulic when I swapped from the T14 to the T98, don't regret it in the least.

Hydraulic on all my rigs now with swinging pedals... SOOO much easier for maintenance. I have a Novak push type and a couple with Speedway pull type slave cylinders. Both are fine ways to go.

What’s wrong with your current setup? You’ll be the first ever to swap back. Maybe you need to change the way something works. Was the pedal swap just done wrong?

I also suspect you have an issue with your existing set-up... but leaving no stone unturned you should be able to find a threaded pull type slave cylinder and use a dome washer like what you see on a rocker arm.
Will you do a full swinging pedal swap or would you want to keep the floor pedal if possible?

I installed swinging pedals just trying to go hyd. Over cable and linkages.

I'm just a tactile button pusher and like the mechanical aspects. Not to mention originality, I have a lot of period accessories/mods, so sticking with the theme.

I installed swinging pedals from a 72 along with the steering column and I used a speedway motors pull type cylinder and a wilwood master cylinder. Works great and adjustment was a snap. Of course this also was on a V6. I have had zero leaks or issues since installation

    Spence,

You mentioned going to the AA chain clutch control, which I have considered, but am concerned about the note on their listing for this.

"Note: This kit will not work on stock 4 cylinder Jeep bellhousing"

I have seen these chain controls on stock 4 cylinder Jeeps, so this note confuses me.

I'm guessing it needs to be modified? I seem to recall me calling them a few years back and they clarified further, guess I need to call again.

To me "original" means the whole thing is just as it rolled out the door at Toledo. Anything done to vary that is "modified" in some sense of the term, be it engine enhancement, wheels, seats, steering, brakes, or whatever. I have the same definition of "restored". It would be interesting to construct a distribution curve of member's rigs all the way from "original" to completely "non original". I strongly suspect most would find a spot in the middle of the bell curve where actual functionality is the dominant trait, and that definitely includes hydraulic clutches.

"Original" can also be defined as the absolute cheapest engineering solution Willys/Kaiser could come up with to get past any warranty and not totally ruin their reputation. That clutch linkage along with the Ross box steering are probably the two brightest shinning examples of that. In the end, it all comes back once again to the owners' desired use. IE, are you actually going to use it for what Jeep were supposedly built for or is this a Sunday picnic at the local park or a parade Jeep?

One thing I want to point out is that the clutch arm on the 4cyl is entirely inside the bellhousing.

John don't forget the "heater" that has a recirculating baffle and control that doesn't actually do anything but starve the blower for air.

Speaking of, my hydraulic clutch setup the PO built just grenaded today. Homemade arm sheered off, over pressurized the slave and blew its guts out the bottom leaving parts down the road, luckily I was by the house when this happened.
Sending pics of what OEM setup I still have intact to DeBella to determine what I need to revert back to stock setup. Think I need the tube that passes through the frame mount as it looks to have been cut.

I'll revisit this later when I upgrade to 9"-1/4 HD clutch and rebuild my T90 for the 2nd gear pop out, see if I can beef up the whole assembly or just run the HD assembly and stay on top of maintenance.

Im in the process of looking at hydraulic for my 71 v6. The cable set up has been a nightmare. You give me hope!
