Correct. Explains to me now why my pedal differs for an essentially same year Jeep: It's 6 cyl vs 4 cyl

My '62 jeep accelerator pedal is stock and looks like Ronnie's. Had to repair it, due to age. Was totally worn out, but now is nice and firm and plenty of travel for that Weber carb under the hood. Had to change the geometry of the linkage some, but it works fine...

My '68 V6 had that horrible pedal. It required an un-natural leg/foot position. I'd get foot cramps after an hour or so. No throttle control. Tried a piece of 2x4 as a heel rest, helped but hardly a permanent solution.

I fabbed up a metal one.

Ive adjusted mine but it seems like you loose top end throttle by bringing the pedal down. May have more to do with the pivot point on the carb. Ive had a couple carbs that had different pivot ball locations. Not sure what is stock but think i finally found something that works ok at least. Mines not as bad as it used to be but still not as good as the floor mounted pedal

I like the rod, solid linkage. Friends have removed that and installed a cable pedal and cable that wets a little lower and like it. I have no trouble with my size 13's reaching the pedal

Drill and bolts, heat the pedal rod with a torch and bend the last 45 as needed and trim the pedal rod down in length. I used 5/16 rod and formed it with a pipe to make a new pedal rod.

    Just saw this old post!
No one mentioned that the Rochester 2G carb needs the ball nut stud relocation bracket. Without that bracket, the factory original gas pedal will be pulled up high!

You can see some info on it in this post on one of my build threads: What? Another Jeep?

It basically reduces the distance from the pivot to where the throttle rod connects by half. The same pedal movement will result in more throttle plate movement.

Finally, finally... Found the extra bracket that goes on the throttle linkage on a spare 2g I had. It was held on by a 1/4-20 bolt. On my current carb it has this other pin. Anything special about it before I grind it off?

Nope, grind it off and use the 1/4 -20 bolt and nut for your application. :)(y)

That hanging throttle pedal is another Kaiser "cheap out" and was , in my opinion, a terrible engineering solution. Along with the really poor ergonomics, it is pretty much impossible to keep an even throttle application with those in any rough terrain. My 67 had that same arrangement and it to received a floor mounted pedal and the modified linkage shortly after getting it home 54 years back. I too found there was insufficient movement of the linkage to fully operate the carb.
