A couple of items to consider:

Buy or borrow a electrical wire tracer. Sometimes they are called a fault finder or short finder. It wiill send a pulse down the line so that you can see if you have a broken wire, trace a PO's wiring, or let you find the other end of the wire. Once you know where both ends of the wire are, you can test continuity. If the resistance is high, the wire needs to be replaced.

There are a couple of circuit breakers in the system that are not labeled in the diagram. They may show 12 volts coming through the system, but if they are weak, they will shut off the power when the device is used, and then cut power back on in a few minutes once it cools down. There horn has definitely one near the firewall.

With the positive cable unhooked, double check the grounds on all of the system using an ohm meter. Put one end on the negative battery cable and the other end on negative side for the electrical device (light bulb, radio, horn, etc.). Without a good ground connection, the electrical device will not work properly.

X6 (or 7 or whatever the count is at this point). I used an EZ Wiring harness, a little less expensize than Painless. Took a weekend of two solid days to do it myself.
