The wheel (or wheel adapter) covers it?

On my 74 with the flanged axle and factory KH wheels about 1/2 of the hole is visible from the out side, where the wheel does not cover it.

Mine just had like these "plastic" discs in the holes, I ended up cutting a couple out of a sheet of delrin I had sitting around, and then used a couple three or four dabs of silly-cone to hold them in place.

I only had one and yes it was plastic too. Same here made another out one out of scrap plastic ( cutting board) tapped in pretty tight.

Cheaper than a gearbox overhaul. FWIW I run 15w40 or 20w50 in all my gearboxes since the price of GL4 shot up. T90, T150, AX5. Same for my D18.

Pulled the manifold to fix a leake exhaust gasket.... which led to doing a valve adjustment.... which led to breaking a rocker arm.... :banghead: So just waiting on some parts before I can put it back together.

BUT the COOLEST THING I DID THIS WEEK........ I found an AMAZING pinstriper/painter that goes by "@Paintedbyjaush" in instagram. He frequently paints badges etc on flat fenders in the phoenix area. I mailed him my tailgate and he came up with this amazing artwork. I've never been so happy hahhaha. I'm obsessed with it:

Surgery is going well. Brake lines tomorrow, ridding the hard line on the axle going to hoses to the frame from the wheel cylinders. Realized my shocks are limiting droop by a fat inch.

    Looks good
    I see you're staying with 5.38's
I'm trying to decide between 4.88 and 4.56 on my green B. Just trying to drop a liittle rpm on the road without loosing too much pull on the hills.

How much compression do you have to spare on those shocks?

Surgery was more or less a success. Made these little brackets for the brake hoses, no more line on the axle tube. Love my Summit flaring tool, nary a leak. Brakes bled out fine with the speed bleeders and bag. Swapped the cover, topped off the diff. And was rewarded with a pinion leak :censored:. Have another seal, just a pita... Need to sort out the handle for the parking brake and call it good. 3555.jpeg

Hey Rich, question for ya: the bolts that hold the flanged axles on, are they anything special? Does anyone sell them new? My flanged axle is going to need to be taken apart to get the Metcalf disk brake kit installed, and those bolts are really rusty. They look shallower than normal, so I didn't know if I needed something unique, or if some grade 8's would do.

I reused mine. Wouldn't hesitate to use gr 8 fine thread. They do have a larger flat on one side, locking against the tube so you don't need a wrench. Date with a flap disk would do the job.

    Finished up some steering upgrades.
2 hole steering knuckle and a tie rod flip. Used TMR tie rod end inserts

    One piece tie rod.

Steering Bell Crank upgrade. I went with the 1st Gear Offroad assembly with tapered bearings. Kind of spendy, but a very nice part.
