    So are you saying that the return from the pump was run to a T in the main fuel supply line, thus recirculating it right back to the pump inlet? If something different, would a scenario like that work, where he just ran the return line back to the main fuel line rather than back into the tank? Seems like something like that might work, but it's above my pay grade to figure that one out.

    Yes - just dumped the return from the pump into the feed back into it recirculating it. Didn't take it back to the tank. I ran it that way for several years.

    Mine is completely different but sort of similar.
    Gravity feed to a big @$$ filter which feeds the pump with a return back to the filter.

    The goal is to keep the fuel flowing so there is not one area of fuel getting hot. Mine is tbi so my filter needs to seperate air out or It will stall.

    Here's how I tee'd off my sender cap...

    Added A Return Line, How Much Fuel Pressure Is Ok? | ECJ5 (earlycj5.com)

    Drill and tap for 1/4 pipe fitting. Autozone brake line runs through hole behind seat. Couple with flex or solid line to the return on the pump.

    I also updated my rig and added solid line from tank to pump.

    Tank>90deg tee>Solid line>Hose>pump>filter>regulator>carb

    I ended up having to run a pressure regulator after all. I was running into an over pressure problem at crawl. I think the pump was putting out more that being used and pressure built and engine ran rich.

    I've found running the fuel filter after the pump cured a starvation issue. I think drawing fuel through filter is not ideal. Pushing fuel is better.

    I've been having very good result with this setup. The only thing I would like to add would be a screen to bottom of tank at the fuel outlet. Not going to happen soon.
