Original Color For Optional T18 Tunnel Cover

So let’s say you have an intermediate cj.
You install a T18 and you want it to look original.
Would the tunnel cover be the same as body color or would of be black ?
I had a 1956 with T98-a and the tunnel cover was painted black but things so may have changed by the time the intermediate Jeeps came along

 

Can't say for sure if the t-18 cover would be the same but the major factory tunnel cover on my 74 is same as the body color and the trans cover is black. I have the 3 spd. T15.

Yes I agree the large tunnel cover would always be body color. But the small special cover over the T18 transmission would still be black like it was in 1956 ?

 

There was a coffee walk youtube guy with a jeep boneyard talking up all the unique stuff. That would be my go-to if I could remember what it was.

 

If my memory is correct...the bent sheet metal looking cover was black. That is the picture in my head. I left it black when painted 1975 vintage T-18.

I am unsure on the intermediates, but 100% Black prior to the intermediates. (I missed intermediate on the OP).

 

Every one that I have ever had in an early 5 has been black. I had a 74 that was body colored though.
