All I have is the mounts. Is this a Whitco, Kayline, or something completely different? If someone fabricated this they did a nice job. If possible I would like to find the carrier that was made for this but not sure what it is, what I'm looking for. Also what is a safe weight dangling off the back with a primitive carrier like this? I have 30X9.5X15 now and the most would likely go is 32X9.5X15.

That looks like a vintage Kayline rack. Both my '69 and '68 have one. They can hold a tire up to 31" along with two gas cans and a larger tire with no gas cans.

Some photos of the one on the '69:

Better picture of just the rack:

It latches with an over-center mechanism:

The rack on the '69 originally came with wavy/springy metal straps and lockable latches to hold the cans on. The rattling drove me nuts so I replaced them with the straps you see above. Original metal straps can be seen here:

Depending on the vintage, there are at least three different styles of can mounts.

1). The ones above that have a bottom platform for the can and a metal strap that hold the can in place.

2). Ones that fully enclose the can so it can't possibly fall off:

3). Ones that hook the bottom lip of the and clamp the handles on top the can like my '68 has:

Let me know if you need any more pictures or measurements.

Do you still have the springy metal straps? I'm actually in need of one.
