I've posted several times about my Jeep in the last couple weeks, and got a lot of great advice and knowledge. I'm new to the website, so I just learned of the "Build Thread." In case you missed my introduction post, or my post about the front end locking up, here's a brief recap, and links to my previous posts.

    If It Ain't One Thing, It's Another. | ECJ5 (earlycj5.com)

This thread will focus on my 1960 CJ5, which I got from my father. The list of things I need to do to the ole girl is much too long to post. If you saw the Jeep in person, you would most likely think of it as a parts Jeep, not worth working on/restoring. But it has a lot of sentimental value, and I’m determined to get her going again, even if it costs me more time and money than it will ever be worth. It will never be a show piece, no matter how much money I throw at it.

The best thing it has going for it is the hard top, a Koenig 550, with the very rare optional vertical doors.

I’m going to attach a few photos… The Jeep on the roll-back is mine, when it broke down on the way back from the part store last week. The other Jeeps are example photos of what I hope my Jeep may look like at the end of my project.

I’d like to thank everyone again for your words of advice and support on my front end issue. When my dad was into Jeeps, he avoided the hobby groups. He had been ridiculed for putting the ’54 M38A1 tub on a ’66 CJ5 chassis (with Dauntless V6), and made up his mind that Jeep people were crusty old grumps. That’s what I was expecting when I came here, but I’ve been met with open arms. ECJ5 rocks!

Cool Cool! Great to see you here on ecj5.com too! Now I know what your Jeep looks like

The nicest looking hubcaps for it would be the Kaiser dog dish (red/gold colors)
The other hubcaps in your pics are for the later AMC.
Check eBay, lots for sale. Pricing will vary, but a nice drivers set should only be $100
There’s absolutely crazy prices that some sellers are trying to get because the Jeep market is hot right now.

Like Jeeps, the folks here come in all flavors. There is a common bond that keeps us here though.

    Title: Health Problems
Not long ago, I contracted a disease that, at the time of diagnosis, seemed would not impact my day-to-day life. Unfortunately, I just learned that the illness has spread quicker than anyone imagined was possible. The scientific name for my plight is Willys Madness. From what I understand, it is not life threatening, but has serious financial effects.
My latest symptom is committing to buying a CJ3A from Ohio, just so I could get the wheels and tires. I'll be picking it up Saturday. It will be parted out or sold to someone interested in restoring it once I pull the rims and NDT's. Funds from this part out will go to fight my battle with Willys Madness, and my ongoing CJ5 project. I fear the psychosis will eventually take a toll on my marriage. Hopefully it is contagious, and my wife catches it as well.

How much for the jeep as a whole, when you take off the wheels and tires?

Well, quick update. Drove all the way to Ohio, just to find that the CJ3A was just a POS. Floor pans were gone, tires were dry-rotted. I knew the transfer case was missing, but it didn't even have a transmission!

$1,500. I talked him down to $1,100. Very friendly guy, don't get me wrong. I don't think he was intentionally trying to deceive me or anything. I got there and explained all of the issues I wasn't aware of, and why I was no longer interested. He offered me the Jeep for $1,000 but said that was the least he would take. I still passed.
