Also here’s some pictures of the seat mount we made and swing pedals. All the pedals will be on one side of the steering column to make it easier for us to drive. Both my brother and I are 6’4” so trying to maximize leg room.

I have a good buddy that lives in tawas on Bender road. I gave him a solax and a clutch for his 5 and I got an original passenger side step for my 5.

I like the stance on yours nice and low

If he uses a new jk Dana 44 they are way more stout compared to older 44's

Only the rear. One could make a good argument that the New Gen 44 really isn't a D44. Certainly more difference there than say, between a D25 and a D27. It is a pretty stout axle. On the headlight fitment, you can help that out a bit by tilting the top of the radiator back when mounting it. No reason it needs to be vertical.

There’s simply no room for it to be tilted sadly. Trying to find a fan and shroud combo under 3 inches thick at the moment. If I switch to corvette accessories I could make it work but really don’t want to do that either since all of the current accessories are pretty new from when this motor was in my tj. As for Dana 44 the rear, It will handle no problem and I’m confident in saying that. We wheel very smart because I hate breaking stuff. But jantz engineering makes a kit to put newer Dana 44 gears into the older Dana 44s.

I used two smaller fans to move the fan motors away from the center of the engine. This helped with the clearance. I don't have a fan shroud, but haven't had any problems with keeping it cool down here in Virginia and when I had it on St Croix. You will want to heat shield the underside of the tub and some of the firewall as the heat from the headers and exhaust will cook your feet.

    These are pretty thin.

Like Mike says. That's what I got in my CJ5 . Works great , with the Turbo too. 'Rosie's ' Engine Bay #3.JPG Put the self stick foil insulation from Summit on the underneath of the Hood . I can hold my hand on the hood when she's fully warmed & runnin' . Just burns a wee bit.......;)

Long time, No post but the build is still moving and about to pick up the pace rapidly as I have a car show in 2 weeks to make it to! Jeep made its first trip to my garage for the sheet metal work and finishing stuff. As for the radiator we have decided to do a rear mount, I know this will not be popular but with the build plans of this jeep getting a full tube chassis once the stock frame dies it make the most since to do it now. Floors are almost complete, i still have to make the dog house cover for it, driveshafts have been shortened and the Saginaw steering conversion is almost finished up just waiting on the new steering column to get here. I also taped up the new roll cage design we are going to try out and attempt one with no bend in it to stand out a bit more.

Well another long over due update. The jeep is done for now and my little brother is enjoying it! He’s put close to 1000 road miles and it cruises like a dream at 60-65mph. Still need a couple things like a steering stabilizer, heater, and to clean up some mess. This winter it will be back in the garage for some changes. If I can find a good used tig welder I plan to build a custom fuel cell for it, also going to be building a proper roll cage that tries into the frame to try and stiffen everything up a bit and make the factory frame last a couple years. We hope road trip it all the way to the rubicon for the annual meet up in a couple years. If anyone wants some specific pictures/or how I did things I can post them.
Just wanted to close out this write up as a finished, on the road again, saved from the crusher write up. It wasn’t as detailed as I hoped but not what matters. I’ll be posting more in other sections of the forum about adventures also follow my brother on instagram under 50buck5_cj5. If anyone in Michigan is looking for a hard top I have one available and I’m also looking for a tub to build another early 5 or cj6.

No we ended up jamming it upfront but the front made friends and destroyed it. So either going to get a custom one made and pull the front axle back and inch. We’ve decided we want to get this jeep on UA so trying to leave as much room as possible. I’m hoping to get a cage built and a custom fuel cell once I get a tig welder. Anything specific you’d like to see in pictures.
