    Near Kingston. It wasn't truly a barn but rather a snake filled garage at the end of a driveway

    I think pulling the tyranny is a bit beyond my skill and comfort levels. Don't have any fancy lifts or hydronic tranny supports? Never done it before.

    Got a local shop that's an old school type of establishment? Some place that's used to older vehicles?

    Yeah, I have a jeep guy a couple towns north. It'll be a pain getting it there and prob cost a a pretty penny, but at least I'm not in it too much yet so it's worth it.

    You can do it bud, a floor jack and creative blocking. If I wasn't clear across the country I'd come help. Good luck!

    taking a transmission out isn't hard. we did it in our garage with a floor jack.

    Definitely do-able. I have used a come-along from above more than once.
    My first one, I re-set the transmission AND transfer using my belly as a jack. :crazy:

    But transmission/clutch is a challenge for first-timer. Maybe a friend with some experience would help?
