I am looking into buying a carb from a buddy that has 1.14 venturi's on it. My 1973 304 is kinda stock with electronic ignition, headers and exhaust. Will this carb be a nightmare on it it or do you fella's think it'll will work? My Stock carb has been misplaced during a move.

    Any thoughts?

This is a Motorcraft 2V carb with a 1.14" venturi? It will be fine if you set it up right. The smaller venturi provides higher vacuum and better fuel control at low speed. Emissions may be up slightly at low speed. The carb is not for this application, so you'll need to tune it for the 304. Main jets, power valve, pump shot, idle mixture, choke pull-off, fast idle, idle stop... all are adjustable. There are alternatives - turn in this carb as a core for a reman. Or, there's a guy on eBay selling new repop carbs for these engines, and he will set it up for you.

I'll probably do as you suggest. the carb was just given to me so I may ask the guy on ebay that i got my eagle carb from if he will take it in trade.

I believe the proper one is a 1.08. BUT I can't remember. I had one on my 75 a 1.20 and it was too big I got ahold of a used carb guy in Colorado springs and he told me which Venturi size I needed.

THE proper carb is a 108 right now i have a holley 650 vac secondary and de tuning it to work with 74 304 v8 it has a cam in it long tube headers adj vac advance mech adv curve kit and points. the issue is a rich idle but it can be tailored to work. the idle circuit needs to be restricted with a smaller fuel bleed orifice. also the a dist adv needs to be set and curved properly before any carb tuning. you are looking for around a 14 to 1 air fuel ratio. sometimes i wished I still was working with the motorcraft 2v 1.08 right up to the point when I step into the 4 barrel it dose make a huge difference. now the thing is to get the spreadbore tuned in for economy, fuel mileage and wot performance. running a 55 jet in primary and a 65 jet in secondary with the orange spring and the orange acc. pump cam. it has been
a big job to learn all about tuning but is paying off. another point is the dogleg port heads flow well and have been mentioned flow as good as the chevy 202 heads. so you will have to do a few things to the larger bore carb most complaint will be a overly rich idle.
