well today I fire up my 64 cj5 and I see fuel running out the bottom part of carb. Could this be a float stick down? Have not had trouble with this before

How long has the jeep been sitting? is it coming out of the bottom of the fuel bowl side? If so, check the needle valve on the float. If there is a little debris in there it could prevent the valve from fulling seating, which will allow the fuel bowl to overfill. I ran in to this once. It is also possible that fuel pressure from the fuel pump is to high. This will prevent the needle valve from seating and flowing out the bottom of the carb. This was the issue I had when my carter carb was still flooding. I installed the spacer between the fuel pump and the engine block and haven't had anymore issues. It is also recommended to install a filter. Hope this helps.

Carter YF carb will overflow the bowl via the pump rod, exiting under the bowl as you describe.

Could be a stuck (or sunk) float, crap in the float valve, or some other cause.

Been driving it but but not for a few weeks. Leaking on the float side. Gushing out and that’s why I thought it might be something with the float. I will tear into it tomorrow and hopefully I can find the issue. Thank you all so much. I appreciate it

I did put a kit in it when I restored it but I wasn’t happy with the kit from Kaiser Willys. I tore it apart this morning and couldn’t find anything wrong with it but blew it out and put it back on. Doesn’t seem to leak now so I don’t know. Mysterious
