    Hey guys,

My th350/dana 18/OD combo wont work with the twin stick. My relocated OD shifter interfers with the levers, plus I don't really like having the dual stick. The model 18 is the early one with notched rods not with holes. To go back to the single stick will I need to change out the 2 push rods, or is there a stick and linkage set-up that uses the notched push rods?
    Thanks,
    Ty

I believe the single sticks all used the shift rods with holes, not the notches....
I just threw away 3 complete single stick assemblies, rods and all
I never thought anybody would have a use for them.....

I would remount the OD shifter. No self respecting ECJ owner with twin sticks would stoop to replacing them with a womanly single stick. Come on man, don't do it.

I would try to make the twin stick set up work. IMO, the single stick I have is a pain. I have to lean way over to shift it and its hard to tell exactly what position your t-case is in. I am switching to the twin stick setup soon. My single stick set up will be available when I do.

If you want trade I have all the parts you need but you will have to completly disassemble your transfercase or I would sell the parts to you for $30.

Do you have to modify the floorboard when switching from a single stick to a dual stick??

Before swapping to my TH350 I was MORE than satisfied with my "hard to reach" single short shifter. The twin stick rarely was used by those who I know have them. I saw one time when it was an advantage to use front lo. As for bending/re-routing the OD shifter, ya I could but it rides just perfect next to my lokar. I just don't need 4 sticks when I can go every where I want with 3.
My question was simply do I need to swap out the rods to go to the "womanly single stick" ? Or can they be drilled and pinned maybe? I take it no one in this bunch has done this reverse swap....

yes, the single stick has holes, the only twin-sticks use notches.

Not sure if this is a typo or not, but you can't disengage the rear drive while keeping the front drive engaged.

The big advantage of the twins - with the interlock pill removed - is 2-wheel drive low range, handy for backing up trailers, keeping speeds down on trails where 4wd isn't needed, cooling the engine by revving it higher (like waiting in line on a hot day), and easier steering if equipped with a front locker.

As far as drilling and pinning the rods, if the length is the same I'd say it probably wouldn't hurt to try. Thing is by the time you went to all that trouble why not just swap them. Don't you need a different front housing? After swapping that out might as well finish the job and change the rods.

I have a spicer model 18 single stick front housing you can have for the shipping. It is clean, but stripped. You can probably get everything you need for the swap from Herm the overdrive guy ( < google his website, and call or email him).
If you want the housing, let me know.

maxx is correct. You have to swap out the output bearing housing, the rods and the shifter. The shifter actualy bolts to the front housing. I had a single stick and hated it. But that's just me. Seems like you should be able to find someone who wants a dbl stick and just swap parts.

I dug through my parts and found these. The housing and linkage. I am not sure what else you would need. $20 plus shipping. I don't think it would be much to ship.
