Heater Outlets

I know one of the 2" dia. heater outlets should connect to the duct leading to the windshield defroster vent, but what did the other one originally connect to?:

 

The three that I have taken apart have all had a cap of some sort on one of them. FSM on page 359 also shows only one hose/duct.

I wonder if there was some other application that used both?

 

Maybe if you made some sort of Y so both went to the defroster, it would work better. Seems like I read about a lot of complaints about how the defroster work.

 

Just not enough CFM out of that Original fan motor................and Yes One of the two came blocked off.

 

Did they use it other Willys cars? Maybe they had the same heater in the wagons or the Jeepster? Like Tim E said.

 

i had one plugged, just this year unplugged the second one. made a huge difference in both defrost and heat output,i guess by allowing more air out the fan can spin a little faster.

 

I cut out both of those and put in a three inch outlet to match the defrost duct going to the windshield. Also put in a after market summit heater.

 

Make sure there is insulation around your heater core or the cold air will just go around it

 

I bought the Walcks plastic replacement for the paper ones and have already decided to cut off the Y and just go all of the output when set to defroster.
