I have a '54 CJ3B with the stock 8 1/2" clutch.I found a T-98 out of a CJ-5 with adapters, transfercase, and driveshafts.I am wanting to put the bigger clutch assy in this(9 1/4 or 9 1/2 whatever it actually is),can I,and are there any problems to it?I have both(one that came with my jeep and one with the T-98)bellhousings also.

I think your biggest problem is going to be having the mounting holes for the new clutch in the wrong spot. I am not sure if they could drill and tap new holes, or if you would have to use a completely different flywheel.

Ah....never thought of that one!Guess I should go to the T-98 donor and see what size clutch it has,if it has the bigger one, have to get that flywheel.Thanx!

Ok,I have been researching this.I can find the bigger clutch everywhere. But all my resourses show only one flywheel. The only other item I found was Moses Ludel had a Centerforce Pinto unit "custom" done that works great, but that custom stuff just shows $$$$$ to me.It would make sence to believe the bigger pressure plate would take a wider bolt pattern,or is there not enough difference to warrant a flywheel with a different bolt pattern?Only going 8 1/2 to 9 1/4,hmmmmmm.Any ideas?

Have you looked at the flywheel yet? If there's only one flywheel listed and two sizes of cover, I'd suspect that the flywheel is drilled for both covers.

I got the T-98 from a CJ-5 and I figure it might be late enough as the T-98 didn't come out til later(my 3B a '54),so I will go over today and get it if it has both, thanx!
