Does anyone know of an air filter for a one barrel solex carb? I have a 1970 CJ5 with a 134F. Right now I am using an open element filter from Auto Zone. I think it is causing problems. I am considering going back to the oil bath filter.

20160811_164109.jpg There really is no need, unless you are doing a fancy restoration. The oil air bath was for all the dusty gravel roads way back when. A reusable K&N will suit you fine, and shouldnt cause problems. Here is my set up

That is very similar to what I am using. For some reason my engine seems to be starving for fuel. I have switched to an electric holey fuel pump. I have a regulator mounted on the fire wall with a gauge that reads almost 4lb. The clear in line fuel filter is usually full but sometimes it is empty and the engine dies. I get good flow out of the pump because when i disconnect the line from the carb. there is plenty of flow.

What type of carb. is that on your motor? I assume the sending unit at the front of the head is for the temp. gauge? What type of fuel pump are you using?

What is the size of the fuel line running to the carb? to the pump? Thanks for the reply.

5/16” is better. Which YF? There are two things to consider with a mechanical, aside from the fact that it is actuated by the cam. First, you can be showing good pressure, but if the flow isn’t there it isn’t right. 1/2 pint in ten seconds.

Yes, I get at least 1/2 pint in 10 sec. I have 5/16 rubber line but the fitting at my carb. is 1/4. I think I may have a venting issue that is trapping air in the line. Do you know if the float bowl on the solex has a vent?

Where do you find the black part for the air filter the connects to the top of the carb? Is there a specific part number or place to find those?

once you get the air intake horn, (if you aren't going to the oil air bath attached to the firewall), I brought it to a local muffler shop and had them neck down a length of muffler pipe to match the air intake horn on the one end. then the K&N air filter can bolt to the new muffler pipe.
