It's a good idea to get u-bolts with rolled threads, as opposed to cut threads.

Mission accomplished, got the front springs and new shackles installed yesterday. On both sides, the rear bolt had rusted/fused itself to the bushing sleeve. As some opined, they were a bear to get out.

One had to be driven out with an air hammer punch after cutting off the head of the bolt. The other side was funny; bolt was seized, so I cut through about 1/3 of the head with a cutoff wheel, and broke out the chisel point to cut off the rest. It wasn't cutting, so I "pried" on it with the air hammer running to help cut through the head and the bolt started walking out! When I couldn't "pry" with the air hammer any more, I still couldn't pull it out with my fingers, so I broke out a claw hammer, and it came out without a fuss.

Judging by the lack of rust on the shocks, I picked up 1+ inch of clearance all around!

Thanks all. After hunting season, it will be time for an oil change, and a new front pinion seal.
