Looking for a dash panel for my 74 CJ5. Preferably new. Any suggestions on where to find one, or will the 76 panel work?

You can interchange the dash panel, however, the windshield latches will be incorrect...and of course all the places where the gauges are.

I have an Intermediate dash panel, but the PO cut a hole for a radio. You could probably weld in a panel. Send me a PM if you're still interested and I'll get you a pic.

    That dash won't fit 72-75.
As you noted, the column area is different.

    TroyGT,
I noticed the same thing on their website. I'm glad you cleared it up, because I was going to look at it today to verify my suspicions on the column cut out. Back to the drawing board. Thanks everyone for the inputs.

Yeah, really frustrating. I just want a simple dash panel for 72-75. I can easily find the 76 version or the older version. You would think there would be more demand for aftermarket with these because you just can't find these in the junk yard very easily. I did finally find a blank from Warrior Products that I could go with, but they aren't cheap. I will probably just weld a plate into the PO butchered radio hole and then body fill and paint it.

If you can weld, you can patch in using the tack-and-planish method that Robert from MP&C shows in his thread on the Garage Journal.

MP&C Shop Projects - The Garage Journal Board

Previous posters are right, the intermediates have both a different driver's seating position and a different way that the column attaches to the dash. Sorry to steer you wrong initially.

Cool, I can do that. I got a Tig and a Fluxcore wirefeed welder. Just need to get me a matching plate cut out and go to it with the hammer and grinder. Thanks!

I don't have any practical experience with this product or any connection to this company but I have the same issue with my stock dash and have been eyeballing these for a while:
    Double D Fabrication
Scroll down for the 72-75 models. Definitely a little pricey but at least an option for anyone without the ability (or desire) to patch the dash they have now.
If anyone does have experience or makes a purchase a review would be appreciated.

I looked at the site and It looks like great work to me. I will just have to contact them for a more precise pricing on the individual cut outs I would like. Great find though Scroggs. Hopefully a great lead for my rebuild.
    Thanks

I'm in contact with him now. He is quick to respond and happy to help. I will send results and pics if I go with this dash.

I have a Double D Fabrication dash in my garage waiting to be installed. I had him change the dimensions of the glovebox opening a bit for a better tuffy glovebox fit. The dash looks great.

I cut a piece out of an old Harley (got to keep it American) fender I had laying around and have welded it into place. Working on the planishing, grinding, re-welding now. It's getting there. Not too bad to do and I'm no pro welder by any stretch. I'll put a pic up when done.

I ordered one from Double D Fabrication yesterday. Daniel was very helpful in making sure I was getting what I wanted. I'm excited about getting it in!

He just designed it and sent me the final product for approval. Very proffessional and I can't wait to get it in. Was the stock speedometer typically 5 1/2" in diameter. I just want to make sure the guy that had it before me didn't put a different one in and cut the hole larger. Let me know how the original is taking out as well people. Thanks

The original one has studs welded to the dash.

You won't regret that purchase at all...he does VERY good work. I designed a dash for my '74 that fit perfectly.
