Problem solved!! Thanks to all you who advised me to not messing with the tranny mount but advised to adding a bushing between the frame and the crossmember. I took out the 1/4 inch bushing and added in a 1 1/4 inch bushing to each side. My header/muffler and transmission shifter problem are both fixed. I finished up about 11:30 last night, then tossed and turned all night, I'm going to be a hammered unit today.

If you raise the body the radiator lower hose will come up with the body unless you re-drill the mounting holes and drop the radiator down. The radiator mounts to the body. I had to do that when I did my body lift.

Yes that is very true! It's strange how it was all working when I took it apart but when I put it all back together things just don't line up the same as they did before. My worst example is the throttle linkage. now it's back together the peddle is about 2 inches to high off the floor and I've already adjusted the throttle arm as long as it can be adjusted, I'm going to need to bend the peddle so that it's closer to the floor. Not a big deal but how did that happen!!

Keep in mind that everything you do to address the clearance issues your facing by lowering the transfer case , you will also effect the front drive shaft by increasing that angle at the front U-joint.
All of the issues for clearance & proper angles should be addressed together.........

    Hi Tarry,
I'm a bit confused with the statement "increasing the angle at the front U-joint", I would think lowering the tranny and TC would decrease the angle on all U-joints front and back. What am I missing here??

Also your right, dropping the support crossbar one inch impacted more than I had anticipated, luckily nothing to serious. The only problem I see now is I need to in-large the hole in the floor where the TC shifter comes through.

I'll second the spacers under the cross member. My '71 V6 has 2 of those spacers on each side.

By lowering the TC and motor by a few degrees in the rear as you have suggested to help your internal clearance problems with the shifter , headers ETC it does lessen the angle of the rear yoke / Universal joint at the rear output shaft from the TC to the rear axle............the opposite effect is by lowering the rear output you are also tilting up the front yoke / universal joint output shaft which goes forward thus increasing that joints effective angle to the axle yoke............in simple terms split the transfer case in half while looking at it from the side.......as you lower one side the other side tilts up.............and I would agree that the front is not engaged as much as the back nor is it normally driven at High speed.

I understand what your trying to do, but without having the ability to look at your complete mounting arrangement I am just guessing at how you got to the clearance issues...........in any case just be aware for every action there is also an opposite reaction to deal with.
