    Hey all,

I am looking to change out my aftermarket under dash gauges and place new ones in the dash. I cannot decided what the best layout is for not only cool looks, but practicality. If anyone would share their dash creations that would be great.. I'll keep looking around the forum as well.

    Thanks and Jeep on!

    Noooooo! Don't do it!

Just my $.02, but if your dash is in good condition and you still insist on doing this, spend the $110 on a replacement to cut up and keep your stocker.

Once you cut the holes, you can't go back.

I wrestled with this dilemma...to cut or not cut a pristine stock dash. I finally did it. Auto Meter Oil, volt, and temp gauges in approximately the stock location for a Renegade. I'm happy I did it.

That looks great to me, orderly and functional. My 61 CJ sure isn't orderly due to all the under-dash mods from a YJ. Lucky I was able to squeeze in just a Temp gauge that eliminated an existing part of a old large hole that bothered me!

Not the best photo, since it's so far off but it's my only dash pic from the 61 showing any dash gauges.....

On left left side there is now a temp gauge just under the windshield bracket, this pic is before shot....

My setup is similar to Doug's but if I had it to do over I would put the gauges all on the right side of the column near the speedo so I could see all the gauges with one scan while I am driving.

I am considering moving my Tach from mounted on the steering wheel to up onto my roll-bar header just to the left of my rear view mirror. It will actually be in a better viewing position there.

And then if that works, I'll hang the under-the-dash gauges up under the bar just to the right of the outside drivers side header bar.

made me think of something ,at one of local car shows , I heard one of the young kids and friends when they were walking away from jeep . did you see how big that tach was . I don't have a tach . must have been that thing in middle of dash that goes from 0-9

This is the factory position 1972-1975. The gauges were an item on the option list.

Custom dash built by DoubleDFab and stacked with SpeedHut gauges. Great gauges built in Utah. The speedo is a GPS unit with tach. The second gauge is water temp, oil pressure, fuel quantity and voltmeter. Backlit with dimmable LED lights. Wiper switch left of steering column. I like the position of everything on this dash. No problems eyeballing the speed or keeping track of the engine vitals.

Gauges can be accessed from the front of the dash.

Here's mine. Please ignore the awful diamond plate. PO stuff, mainly because the steel dash behind it is completely swiss cheese. It's something that's gonna get redone in the future.....

I was able to see in the edit mode of quoting you that you're using drop box. We probably need some sort of permissions?
