V6 fuel line positions

    I just put a wtb in the classified section for fuel lines. I searched online and most V6's show the fuel lines over the top of the motor however looking at my before photos it shows clips on the oil pan to hold the lines. I'm not sure if this is factory though. Which is the proper position for the 67 ?

    Routing along the pan bolts seems more like automatic transmission cooler lines to me. There were 225s ahead of TH400s in Jeeps, so the engine could have come from there.

    I saw the fsm diagram showing the lines over the engine but was confused because mine had lines connected to the oil pan. Who knows what my father did back in the day when lines rotted out. Thanks

    Just a theory, but it would make sence (to me) that the fuel lines should go up and over the engine to prevent gravity from draining the lines every time the engine shuts off (if the seal is broken at the needle valve and allows air to enter the line). The line being elevated as high as the carb would create a bit of a "check valve."
    Am I wrong in this line of thinking?

    The lines do go over the motor as the diagram shows. I guess mine were not original. Now I'm curious about from the back of the motor to the tank. Not sure if they were steel or not, from factory or exactly where to run them without the body on for reference

    On my 66, the lines ran on drivers side frame rail, had two or three clips that mounted them to the body. Then it went to the drivers side to mechanical fuel pump. Finally up to the carb. I noticed there seems to be a few ways the factory did it.

    However the clips I had on the body make me think the factory did it intentionally on the 66, seeing how your jeep is a 67. I have no idea how close it will be to 66

    Both my first Jeep, an early 1968 (very stock) and the present 1967 (bubbaedjeep) had the fuel line run down the drivers side frame rail. The tank output comes out of the bottom of the tank with the return into the top. My concern would be with vapor locking when running over the hot engine. And the safety factor of keeping a possible gas line leak off of the engine, which has happened. But, hey, we joke that the factory guys must have enjoyed making jeeps unique as they left the line!

    The 225 CJs had a pretty good run from 1966 to '71, so I would expect there to be many minor production changes in addition to the major changes that we all know about.

    My '70 has the fuel lines up over the top of the engine.
    It always seemed like a bad way to route them to me too, but I have never had a vapor lock issue.

    My 66 has them along the frame as well. Out from the bottom of tank and in to the top. Steel line along frame to about 3 inches in front of master cylinder then bent over toward engine with a short piece of rubber hose for flex then back to steel line along pan forward to fuel pump. Return line same route.

    My 3B doesn't matter here but my Commando has the plastic lines that run to the top of the firewall as shown in post 2 then to steel lines and the needed bits of rubber hose.

    This was the only pc of line that was left . It was attached to the drivers side oil pan bolts. Rubber, steel, rubber, plastic, rubber then plastic again . The plastic has "Samuel moore" written on it. Mean anything ? Not sure if original
