    That's right Glenn,
In late 1950 Willys Overland began converting all P.U.'s and S.W.'s to F head 134.
Then made the Continental designed Super Hurricane 226 an option for P.U.'s and S.W.'s in 1954.

The 4.88 differential was standard on all MB/GPW.
All CJ's got 5.38 with no option or change until Sept of 1962.
The PU's all started out as 4.88 and that was later changed as the engines and transmissions changed.
If I'm not mistaken most if not all Timken P.U. axles were 4.88.
I would have to check the books to determine ratios for a particular vintage of P.U. or S.W.
And like I say it also depended on engine and transmission plus 2WD or 4 WD.

finally got a chance to get into the jeep yesterday and look around, it says t90a on the side of the case, t90c on the cover.

also a tag on it that says 12-15-51. Im assuming a date stamp?

So i found one online that is a t90a thats only a couple hours from here, with the dana 18 still attached.

would it be the same input shaft? would it work with the dauntless? would be nice to just drop a tranny in without rebuilding it. lol

or does the input have to be from a t90j?

Do you have an adapter between the bell housing and Trans that's a couple of inches thick?
If so you'll need the longer T90J input shaft.

I have a 54 sedan delivery with Super Hurricane L head I6 T90a T18 it has 5.38 gears from factory. I am putting in a 225 v6 with adapter yes you need longer input shaft. If it had the 4 cyclinder in it you need longer input shaft for the T90a
