Yeah, typically you want more room between the wheel and seat cushion, not less. Maybe tall and skinny legs, and needs more length to the pedals?

Even when my niece was 13. She fit fine behind the wheel of my 3B but she is a long legged woman. Her uncle John was suffering from the "Black Belly Blight" stomach rubbing on the steering wheel. I can't see how that setup would work for anyone.

    They weren't.

I think Tim's right...Trying to create more ergonomics for the pedals.

    My guess:

Guy probably had a taller torso, or a bad back.

Im around 5' 10" and would assume by lifting the seat would help me see, instead of looking at the top windsheild. I would say it would put less pressure on my back.
I think it wouldn't bother me having seat adjust like that.

who knows, but that's why I would do it.

Yeah...looks like he only raised it in the front, tipping it back a bit. Easy to change at least. I've seen a lot worse PO hack jobs...even done a few myself that I've probably been cursed for.chainsawguy:rofl: As far as safety, we're already living on the edge jeep toss

I think that is the wrong bracket under the seat. Like maybe the one from the passenger side?

There should probably be a section titled "What was the PO thinking?" and everyone can make guesses.

Having long legs, i did that once. It helped but it put the steering wheel more in your lap and harder to see stoplights when you're eye level with the wipers.(top on) I put it back eventually

I reversed the rear spacers to change the angle of my seats. Makes a huge difference -- I'm 6-2 and my "extra" length is in my legs. I still feel like my knees are in my face when I shift...

    Regards,
    Tim

Notch the rear wheelwells right behind the seats and move the seats themselves back. Only needs to be a couple of inches.

So, has anyone done the "notch " on fiberglass?

Well, looking at the pictures, I would say that tilt wheel set-up would probably go along with the long legs and tilt the seat back theory.
