I have a old grill screen for a early CJ5 is there a way to mount it besides using sheet metal screws? I have seen pictures of them on flat fenders and they use clamps that go around the grill bars? Is there a way to mount one in a similar way on a early CJ5?

I had one before that used clamps like you are talking about. Similar clamps can be bought at places like Lowe's. I'm sure you could fasten some to the screen with small bolts and washers. Is their evidence on the one you have of brackets of any sort? Got a picture of yours?

i would try to use some small "J" bolts, the the J hooked around the inside edge of the grill bar.

Although a different animal, I had a CJ5 stainless screen mounted on the inside of my CJ2a grill. It was formed by bending and didn't want to go anywhere once it was in. It looked really good back in there, but......

That said, I had overheating issues even with a big electric pusher fan on the front side. I finally took it back out and borrowed a volometer from work to see how much the CFM airflow was restricted. I don't remember the exact number, but is was a huge reduction of airflow. But, if the screen could be removed easily, it wouldn't be an issue.
