V belt from fan pulley to power steering pump

    Can this be done? The mount I have for the pump came from a '79 caddy (needed some mods) and would place the pump pulley in line with the second groove in the fan pulley. This would bypass the drive pulley altogether. There is an empty groove on the drive pulley to be used, but it is inboard of where the current mount could line up. Is this a no-no in concept? I would need to hunt the scrap yards again to find the correct Buick bracket (no donors in my current area at this time!)

    Thanks. You know, I actually saw that listing as I was searching this subject out. Pricey is right! I do have all the parts minus the brackets already. Guess I'll just have to keep an eye out for another donor car.

    if I remember right , the second grove on water pump . was to run smog pump . I wouldn't try that with P/S pump

    Is a tough search...mine is even tougher as I am trying to add a PS to my 198 and that is even more rare. Might have to go the fab route. Hope not.
