F-Head Engine Issues

    It is permanent, but it's the same process they use to "rebuild" connecting rods. They grind a tiny bit off the faces of the cap and rod mating surface, and then hone the big end to spec. That and straighten the rod (which may mean honing the axes of the big and little end in parallel) and resizing the little end somehow.

    If your crank journal is scored even a little, nothing will buy you time...you may just have to pull it all out and apart and rebuild the short block.

    So it took a while for me to carve out the time to continuethe endeavor on the knock but I put a -0.020 bearing on the journal and theplasti gage showed my oil gap was 0.0015, cranked it up and had awesome oil pressureand no more knock. After replacing thefront wheel cylinders and another round of valve adjustments she runs and stopslike a champ. Thanks all for theassistance.
