Po had even fire hei, I got a prestolite for it put new points in. Hooked it up and then after some melted wire figured out ballast resistor was gone. Picked up a new one had lil over 6volts. Later on tested again then had 12volts . Got another resistor and condenser again 12volts and yet to see a spark. any ideas?

Your not telling us where you are reading the voltages from. Key (on) input to ballast resistor or key (on) after the ballast resistor or key (on) + terminal of coil or key (on) - terminal of coil or?

Ive got the voltage from b4 and after resistor. At the coil and to the distrubtor all now read 12volts

Your 12V at the coil going to the distributor should trigger low-hi when cranking. If that is not happening then make sure your bypass wire from the "R" terminal on the starter solenoid is connected to the circuit feeding the coil +. If you are still getting a steady 12V at the - terminal of the coil when cranking then your points are no good/are not closing/or the breaker plate ground wire is broken.

The wiring has been butchered by another professional electrician . I do not have the 12volts bypass to the coil. I got green wire from firewall to ballast resistor to coil to distrubtor. No voltage regular off alternator. No 12volts from starter

Do you have the delco or prestolite starter. A pic would help.

Are your points still gapped correctly - and clean? Can you get a spark from the coil HT wire if you tweak the points manually, with the ignition on?

I always give them a final polish by pulling a clean business card through the points - has 'fixed' a no-start more than once.
