Pic's of the family ride! cj6 (updated pic's on pg.2)

I finally got around to getting some pic's of the 1958 cj6. I'll get some photos of the engine compartment next week. its got a warmed over 283, onboard air, full floater D44 in rear with ARB locker, Warn OD, Spicer 18 and sm420 rolling on 35's! I installed a double pass-two core radiator and a pusher fan. seem to work ok. I'm not the biggest fan of the color but the kids love it! So its staying that way for now. Also not pictured is a rubicon style rack for the back.

I just picked a Bestop Tigertop for it. Its always had a hard top. So I need to install all the hardware. I've never installed a soft top before so it should be interesting to say the least.

As you can see it's marking its territory on my driveway.

Pretty Nice............Is that a Bed Liner finish on the Body? How much lift did you install to get the 35's under there?

Yes the PO rhino lined the whole thing. Some day i will take the body off and clean it all off. But, for now it will work. It has a 2.5 Rancho with about 1.5in body lift. I plan on going with some Holbrook's in the future http://www.holbrookspecialties.com/

    Looks good!

I wouldn't be the one to Rhino line the exterior, but I wouldn't be the one to go through the hassle of undoing it either. I cleaned herculiner from the inside of my CJ6 and it was a horrible job.

    Just enjoy it....

Yep, what ^, Boyink said, just enjoy it! Sounds like the PO put some work into it. I really like the bumpers. What kind of steering upgrade does it have? Enjoy!

Except for the Rhino, I like it. Too bad it has a Chevy in it

but I wouldn't want it any other wayR) Should make a great trail rig-one that doesn't need a trailer to get there.

Don't be disturbed if the tiger top seems like it won't fit. It does. You will find a couple of dissections of the installation process on this site. When I did mine

    http://www.earlycj5.net/forums/showthread.php?82253-North-Texas-CJ6/page4

I really had to stop and take some deep breaths to keep from throwing up. I thought I bought this non returnable top and I can't make it fit. But a little thought on how to reposition the rear frame and a very hot sunny TX day made it work just fine.

I really think your rig looks nice. Fun times ahead.

Is that a fiberglass body on your rig? I'm not a huge fan of the color but the Jeep looks great! I'm thinking of going with a similar lift and flares when I convert my cj5 into a 6 :)

It has a Ididit steering column and a saginaw power box. I'll really will try to get engine picks this week. Its an all steel original body no glass parts.
Ojgrsoi thanks for the info on the top. I'm just not looking forward fitting it on.

Thanks all for the comments. Its all kool except the color. But I think I can live with it for now. I'll probilby just end up with a rattle can charcoal paint job in the future.

Very nice rig, so please don't take this wrong - I don't care for the color either. Looks like a Florida swimming pool to me :)

But hey - paint scrapes and gives you a reason to change it.

I'll be the odd man out and say I like the color!
    Very retro/1950's
    Looks like something you'd see on a 55 T-Bird...

Heres the updated pic's from under the hood. Its a warmed over 283 with Holley 4 brl, MSD distributer and coil. The water pump was relocated for better mechanical fan placement but it didn't work out. i'll change it back if and when I move to a intermediate grill and conventional radiator. This should give me room to run my puller contour dual fan. But for now it's got the Spal pusher and a dual core-double pass racing radiator.

I also, have been getting lots of hot air recirculating in the upper radiator area. I'm thinking of a way to block it so i can keep cooler air pushing.
Any one have an idea on best way to block the hot air movement? I have a pice of aluminum I might mount to the open space in-between the radiator and the grill then down a few inches on either side. I know venting the engine compartment would help but, i don't want to cut any steel.
It seems to be cooling ok right now. Just don't about when its 100 deg. out.

I'm also geting ready to make two speaker pods out of 6" PVC end caps. Will be hanging then from the rear roll bar and hooking it into an amp with a 3.5 plug for my phone or mp3 player.

Are you using an Advanced Adapter kit for the 420 to dana18?

did you have to shorten the drive shafts at all? I am in the middle of a similar build.

Looks like a new car. The dash is interesting, they cut it to make an instrument panel so it is not useful to take all away. This was my idea too, but now my Jeep works well and I don't touch anything, just use it!
You have a huge factory under the hood, this is impressive.

About the colour, it is nice. Of course you can repaint, but you can also make some additive to please the children.
You can paint fishes (in the sea) birds (in the air) or flowers and hippie look. I am sure that you have good artists around you. WIth a signature, you can sell it 10x more than standard price!

This is what I did for the B:

The shrouding is gasketed on both sides and fits tight against the grill and radiator. Those two vertical support columns actually fit inside the grill verticals. Personally, if you really want to move air, there isn't much that can match a big mechanical fan in a well fit shroud. It certainly comes with a mileage penalty but there's no free lunch.

x2 on making a shroud for the fan. Should help a lot with air movement through the radiator.

Yep, that is even more important than the ducting in front of the radiator. Also, with the fan below the center of the radiator, you would likely be moving little air through the upper portions of the core.

This is what my 3B shroud looks like and as in the above photo, it covers both the radiator and engine oil cooler.
