Well it runs and drives, but it seems hard to start.

It is a 225 V6, Dauntless with points, that have not been replace since I purchased the jeep. It seemed to start up fine, however it was only cranked a few times before the rebuild. I have a newly rebuilt motorola alternator from Walcks, new resistor new coil new wires.
Now the jeep will start, however, it will take a few turns of the key.
Once you turn the key there seems to be a little delay before any action occurs,at be 2-3 seconds at the most, and once it does, it sounds like it is dragging. It's long and drawn out with some hesitation in between. I've also noticed a rattling noise very briefly, but sounds like something is hitting the thin mettle plate located on the bottom of the bell housing and starter. If I leave the key turned in the "on" position for a few seconds it will catch and start up. If it doesn't I will turn the key off and retry, usually the jeep does the same thing, but will start up and run.

I took it out for the first time today, up and down the driveway to see what I will issues I may need to address. Here is a few pictures

sounds to me you have a weak starter solenoid . or possible voltage drop on wire going to solenoid . starter terminal on ignition switch . have you tried to start engine with a remote starter switch on solenoid

Check all your grounds. make sure you sand the paint off where the ground is. When I restored my truck I had a lot of issues like that, most were cured when I went over every ground and removed the paint behind them

That's a pretty 67 CJ6. I would do the grounds as above and would remove the starter and open it up and see how it is inside. That starter should go instantly when you turn the key to start. Don't be afraid to open the starter. They are very simple.

Thanks for the pointers guys. I will run down and check all the grounds and connections. As mentioned before, the jeep started right up with no lag before the resto. Didn't do anything with it but put it on the shelf until I reinstalled it, hopefully it will just be a ground issue.

No twin2, I haven't tried starting with a remote starter, mainly because Ive never done that before so I'm not too sure how to attempt that.
    ill check the grounds first.

Definitely look at the grounds first. Lesson learned after pulling the whole drive train and it turned out to be the connection from the block to the frame.

    Fresh rebuild there too :)

    Wow! That thing is fine!
The one time I had trouble getting mine to fire it turned out to be a bad electrical connection at the main engine wiring harness connector near the pass side valve cover.
    Good Luck

Much thanks to all of you guys with the advice, I looked over all the wire connections and checked the ground. I actually relocated the ground and cleaned off the paint. It starts up a lot better. There still seems to be a little
lag, but I can live with it. Thanks!
